Update on the 2020 RECUMBENT RETREAT.
After a long discussion with the State of Oregon Parks Division, we have come to the only decision we could, which is to cancel the Recumbent Retreat this year. This decision was made for the following reasons:
Restrictions: no group site, no treasure hunt or prize table, no pot luck, no group campfires or group meals, no lighted bike parade, no organized group rides and very limited social gatherings, also a requirement of everyone wearing masks and keeping 6’ distances with those who are not part of an immediate family. Also worth noting, the camp restrooms are open but the showers remain closed.
Options: we could camp and we could ride our bikes, just not as a group – only as individuals and families. Basically, we wouldn’t be able to do any of the things that we usually do at the Retreat.
Unknown: there could be changes to State requirements between now and then, things could get better, but they also could get worse. There is even the possibility of the park closing every other campsite, which would greatly affect our reservations.
An email has been sent out to all who have registered, with refund information and a request for a reply to that email.
To say we are unhappy with this decision is a bit of an understatement. The “EVENT” would just not be the same without our usual activities.
Let’s all be well, and plan for the Recumbent Retreat in 2021.
Signed, sadly, The Recumbent Retreat Committee
