February 2020 Minutes

Minutes of PNWRC, Pacific NorthWest Recumbent Cyclists (formerly OHPV), meeting on February 19th held at RecumbentPdx and hosted by Paul Heijn. The usual suspects (participants) were present.

Lonnie opened the meeting with a report that David Rothgeb’s trike was stolen. (Stolen minus the seat and batteries, from the Holiday Inn Express, Santa Ana, CA. Has custom wood fenders, big Apple tires, bafang assist.) Please keep an eye out on Craigslist or other classifieds. David had removed the seat and battery, so someone may be looking to buy those special items. (see featured image)

Edna has been working on cleaning up the old LUNARpages (our web hosting site). Deleted 1000”s of old junk/spam emails. This should help us get the forum up and running plus facilitate the Club name change.

Discussion was held regarding merchandise for the Recumbent Retreat. It was decided we would go with 20 Flags (Edna and Pat Franz to decide on colors, etc). Dave will research long sleeve T-Shirts (or tec-T shirts). We will also research coffee cups/mugs and hats. Design to be determined. We also discussed making License (nameplates) to be passed out at registration.

Upcoming events:

Sunday Parkways begins on May 17th. This is the day after Reach the Beach which several people are riding. Lonnie/Dave will work on SAG logistics as we get closer to the event.

North Portland, June 28, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (9.5 miles)

TRIKE-FEST will be held June 19 and 20. Mel and Janet at R/Pdx have planned it for the weekend following TOT. Friday will be an afternoon ride with a BBQ hosted by T-Cycle. Saturday will be Trike Fest. Sunday will be a 15-20 mile ride with lunch provided/hosted by Mel and Janet of Recumbent/Pdx, location to be determined, depending on the ride. Mel would like assistance in ride/route planning (lets don’t be shy in helping out!!!!).

The Recumbent Retreat has reserved 51 sites. At present 19 reservations have been made thru us (20 if Lonnie registered last night). Todd has mentioned that he will not be able to do the map making (etc) for the Treasure hunt. Would someone else like to volunteer??

I forgot to bring up the past discussion of a Coast Tour. Looks like it may not happen as NOBODY wants to step up with planning/tour leader.

Edna forgot to bring up the Rites of Spring Ride, in March. First day of Spring is Thurs March 19. Do we do the ride Saturday the 14th? Or Saturday the 21st? Watch for plans
