I no longer get emails from the list unless I go to the archives, since
I'm on Comcast. Maybe this post of mine is a repeat, so don't beat me
up if it is. I just don't have time to go back digging through the
archives. This event sounds FUN and I will be there.

See you in November! I'm leaving for big adventures in Ashland,
beginning on Saturday. Happy trails in the meantime!

Famous Quote: "You can lead a dog to sausage, but you can't make him
wolf it down"...or something like that...

OK guys & gals ...it's FREE...it's FUN...it's ...

About the Verboort Sausage Populaire, from Susan France of ORRando,

as sent to the Cycle Oregon Yahoo Group list:

"The ride starts at the (McMenamin's) Grand Lodge in

Forest Grove where you shall find ample parking.
We traditionally have a fair size group come down from Washington who
stay the night before at the Lodge so they don't mind us using the
parking lot. Parking in Verboort the first Saturday in November is a
nightmare. The ride ends in Verboort, 62 miles later, 100k, because
the Oregon Randonneurs will sit down and eat. The Randonneurs will
have their "sausage haulers" out which means big bike bags and maybe
commuter baskets in which to haul their sausage back to their vehicle
and eventually into the freezer. How far back to the start? Just
under 2 miles and to me it seems like a slight downhill the whole
way.

I've done the sausage ride (PWTC) that starts in Tannasborne. It's
rather miserable to ride back to Hillsboro on a full tummy of
sausage. At the Grand Lodge finish, if you eat/drink something like
$7 in food or beer you can use their soaking pool for free...if
you're too full you can pay $5 to use the pool. It's quit a deal.

The Verboort Populaire was listed in Bicycling Magazine so we are
getting many folks signing up that we've never had to our events. One
is coming up from Jacksonville. We always get a crowd from Seattle.

Susan" (France).
