Rats! Diane and I got out and rode around Vancouver on Saturday- and got
soaked. Diane caught a crack in the pavement and skinned her knee. She
finished the ride, though, and she's healing.
I hope people are planning on coming out for the RAGS ride on the 21st,
provided the weather isn't too viscous. We may have to cut off the Columbia
River Highway portion since they've had a major mudslide on the road:

We had a very nice ride on Sunday. Jonathan Maus took to my TE like a
fish to water. We waited around Gateway for 30 minutes for other riders to
arrive, and things looked bad when it started lightly drizzling and no one
showed up. But we hit the road anyway, determined to make the most of it.
The rain soon stopped, and we ran into Slug on the 205 path. That made a
companionable foursome. Then we encountered Kirke and Cathy just as we got
to the Springwater, and we had a quorum for a genuine OHPV event! The
weather held until we got to the General Store, and we had a light snack
there. It started drizzling pretty intently after that, though, and our
ride back to Gateway on Marine Drive was a little damp. Though I was just
wearing wool trousers (nothing waterproof) and did not find that my clothes
got particularly soggy. It was a great day for riding by the standards of
the past few ! weeks!
Anyway, Jonathan's a swell fellow, and a lot of Portland bike enthusiasts
read his site. He gave us a fun write up, and took some pretty pictures.
You can see his take here:

I loved Dave's comment as the roadies they passed recognized Jonathan, "Uh
oh, you're in trouble now!"
Enjoy!
