Did anyone happen to watch the Channel 6 evening news (6pm I think) and
see the story that included an interview with some cyclists on that
ride? Camera showed cyclists leaving the waterfront, and there rode
Slug, past the camera and a couple seconds later so did Lonnie, smiling
out to everyone.
I sure wish we had taped the news, but we didn't know they were going to
be shown.
Happy New Year to all!

I did - what I said I wouldn't - and am glad I did.
I had already decided that if the weather wasn't down pouring I was
going to
make it to the annual New Years day ride from water front park to Laurel
Hurst park. Checking the weather forecast the night before and talking
with
fellow bike riders I told them I probably wouldn't ride because of
sloppy
weather. I woke up around 10:am - pulled the blinds open - and yes - it
looks pretty darn inviting. Quickly get into some riding gear - put 2006
air
in the tires - open the garage door and it's pouring :-0. Look around he
corner and see it's only a shower passing through so by the time I get
out
the door it has stopped. There were about a hundred riders "quessing" at
the
traditional New Years Day meeting place (Battle Ship Mast). This ride is
very social and a means to start a new riding season with -
officialility -
"new word". More showers came but missed us for the most part. Hey - I
even
got back home without getting wet. Bike is still fairly clean so it was
a
"BC comic strip" effort to bring in the new year.
"still dodging rain drops"
later ~
