[OHPV-list] Safest/Shortest route to the coast?

Hello:

I have a small group of Boy Scouts that are interested in making a bicycle 
trek to the Oregon Coast this summer.  The goal is not to reach any 
particular destination, rather to get there in one day and put wheels in the 
surf.  Any suggestions as to what the safest/shortest route might be from 
Sherwood to any point on the coast?
