Guys,
First, thanks for the kind words!
I went out on a quick test ride, from Hwy 19, riding into Port Townsend.
This is mostly a rolling terrain with 2 *short* minor climbs of about 5%.
It's about 17 miles. I got to PT in 54 minutes, with a computer average
speed of 18.6 mph. (For me, that's very fast And, this is the first time I
rode the bike, aside from riding it about a mile, in front of my house).
This is a stiff bike, because of the 2.5 inch O.D. carbon tube. The ride
however, was very comfortable, because of the dual 700c wheels. I am
running a Conti 700x23c up front with 120 psi. and a 700x28c Armadillo
heavy-duty-almost-bullet-proof tire with 100 psi on the back, (btw - I did
not plan this tire selection, this is what I have laying around my
basement).
Descending is great. I was only able to max. 35 mph on downhill stretches
but, the bike proved predictable, secure and very safe. Climbing is the best
thing about the bike, where it made the most difference from my T-Bone.
At 21-22 lbs., (with bag and 2 clip-on tail lights, carrying a spare tube,
patch kit, 3 tire levers, Alien tool & a weight weenie mini carbon pump), I
felt a big increase in climbing speed. I'm guessing, at least a 2 mph
increase.
Now it's time to sand, sand, sand, sand and SAND! Then, the paint. And
then, maybe the tailbox.
So in short, I really am loving this bike!
Cheers,
