Hello everybody,
I received this enquiry from Ethan Davis in Maine. It is
self-explanatory. Please take a moment to provide feedback as you see fit.
Since I have an idea of the momentous challenge ahead of him, let's give
him all the help we can.
Thanks,
Bill
PS Has the monthly meeting [for the 20th] location been confirmed?

Subject: Cyclists needed for velomobile survey
Bill Stites - Oregon HPV treasurer
I am looking into the viability/feasibility of starting a company to
manufacture a velomobile of Dutch design under license here in the US. The
machine we aim to produce offers significant weather and crash protection
and cargo carrying capacity and permits significantly greater speeds (or
equivalent speeds with less effort) through a carefully designed
aerodynamically efficient shell, and as a trike, it offers good stability in
marginal weather conditions. As a recumbent enthusiast, I am guessing that
you already know something about velomobiles, but to find out more, please
visit www.velomobiles.net
I have several theories regarding what kinds of people would be more apt
to make the jump to such a vehicle - would they be Avid cycle commuters?
Fitness buffs? Recumbent cyclists? I am looking for some concrete
information to test these theories, so I've set up an on-line survey to test
them, and to gather some other market-related information. To avoid skewing
my information by region, I accessed the list of recumbent/HPV groups at the
IHPVA website, which is how I came by your contact email. I am hoping that
you will be able to pass the link to this survey on to the other cyclists
in your group. It is located at: www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=721561228701
Thanks for your help.
Sincerely,
Ethan Davis
