Hey All,
Last Saturday I went on a ride with the local fast group of riders. Here they start at 7AM so being it was a ten mile ride there I have to leave no later than 6:30AM.
Did not have pedals on mt GRR and was pressed for time to hopped on the VK2 and sped out in tyhe brisk morning air wearing a short sleeved shirt and shorts. Warmed up quickly and had a six mile downhill that made the trip there average about 30mph.
Met the group as there just started out on the local bike path and flipped a "U" turn to join them. you could tell some of these riders were in very good shape, lean and defined calf muscles.
To my surprise they are all riding at a slow pace, I just hung on the back letting people start getting used to a bent riding with them.
Gradually I would be next to different riders and start chatting. One of them said," I heard a recumbent demolished the last time trial". I replied that was me. Just after more thought I had wished I said "Oh Really" or something like that. I had ridden the GRR at the time trial whee I was second fastest time of day, eight seconds behind fastest time of a rider later I found out is a local legend and had a time of 22:48 for a ten mile TT with 517' of climb.

Anyway, what made the morning conversation memorable was when one of the riders said, " That looks like a bike that was with John Williams Race Across Oregon team".
Took me by surprise that he not only knew the Rocketman by name but also recognized the bike.
