[OHPV-list] electric assist motors

Not exactly either On or Off-topic, thought I'd mention my latest obsession.

I drive my car 2.3 miles to Barbur Park 'n Ride three days a week. The hills from where I live (near Gabriel Park) are tough, so it takes me 20 minutes by BikeE and I would arrive sweating at my commuter bus to Salem.

I'm seriously considering getting an electric assist motor for one of my BikeEs, either the relatively cheap Crystalyte from http://www.scootonthis.com/prod_Conv_kits.html

or going really classy with local product and firm http://www.ecospeed.net

On the one hand, I feel like a wimp for considering an assist. On the other hand, I'd use my bike more and could rationalize that when I'm pedaling, the bike is a hybrid.

Of course, if I ever get around to riding with you folks, I'd feel really ashamed of using my assist, so would have to ride whichever BikeE I don't convert.... ;-)#

Anyone have any experience with these motors?

toodles
