[OHPV-list] Bents on public transit?

It is possible but touchy, in my experience, to take a LWB on Max. I
have done it alone several times without incident, but had a bad
experience the last time my wife and I both took Max together.

We rode from downtown at Pioneer Square up through the tunnel to the
Sunset transit center to avoid climbing the hill rather late in the
day. Unfortunately we both boarded the same end of the same car, and
the bikes (fully socked Gold Rushes) filled up the standing room at
the doors. Two fare inspectors (the first I have ever seen) got on at
Goose Hollow and proceeded to write us warning citations for blocking
the doors. Don't know if they would have let it pass if we had been at
opposite ends of the car, leaving the door on one side clear and
having room to shift around more easily for someone who wanted to get
off....

By the way, this was a weekend evening and not a particularly crowded train.

As far as I know, there is no practical way to take the LWB on the
bike rack on a bus.
